One of the toughest parts about gaming is trying to get your group together on the same day at the same time. It is unfortunate as none of the looking for group apps/ sites/ etc ever seemed to be adopted fully and therefore makes scheduling so hard. 

Some of the key takeaways that we have discovered after 20+ years of gaming is that a shared calendar and reminders are required. Most people today have smart phones and use some sort of electronic calendar. With every session planned we will send out a meeting invite for the next - with an hour buffer before as people do forget. Our invites are at 2pm "D&D 3pm Maddisons House". It has made scheduling quite easy and simple not to mention it allows people to decline outside your discord (or other communication) and then it be easy to see oh Dave is unable to make it or has proposed we start later. 

It was really a game changer (pun intended) for us to make plans and stick to them and it was so easy. Most of us use these calendars for work and other events that it was silly we hadnt thought of it earlier.
